They are glued onto one another for weather-resistance. This results in a load-bearing beam which is more resistant to warping and less prone to fissures than naturally grown wood.Color treatmentThe color pre-treated parts of the building kit are treated with premium varnish and paint. This protects wood from blue stain and UV damage, as well as from swelling and fading, while still allowing the wooden texture to shine through. At the factory, parts are flow-coated twice on all sides with varnish and the excess subsequently brushed off.You can begin with assembly immediately upon delivery, there is no need for cumbersome priming and painting. Every building kit includes enough touch-up paint or varnish to repair damage and cover screws and cut surfaces at least two times.If you wish to further enhance the surface, lightly sand the visible surfaces and coat them with premium varnish or paint after assembly. Traces of storage on all-round color-treated components are due to technical reasons.RoofingRoofing consists of stable, 16 mm-thick polycarbonate twin-wall sheet. The top face is provided with a UV-reflecting layer. It is attached with a high-quality aluminium profile with EPDM lip-seals.BracingThe building kit includes 60 cm-long H-post anchors of galvanized flat steel for embedding in concrete in the site-built deep foundation (for size and lay-out see assembly instructions). We use technically-dried, solid spruce wood, scanned for flaws, sorted and weatherproofed by finger-joint bonding according to length. Small fissures, branches and slight twists reflect the character of the materials used.Color treatmentThe wooden parts of this building kit are not color treated. Wood in outdoor areas is constantly exposed to the elements, such as fungus and insect infestations. Regular, all-round application of protective coatings is thus essential. First apply wood primer to protect against fungus and insects. Then apply an intermediate and a finishing coat of premium wood varnish or paint to protect against color change and damage.Ideally, assemble between application of the first and second coat of varnish/paint. The poling boards must have dried prior to assembly. Calculate service intervals of about 4-5 years, prior to the appearance of visible damage. Follow the processing guidelines of the varnish manufacturer.WallsAll 28 mm-thick wall logs have a single groove and tongue milling. The logs are inserted into one another and slotted and screwed into the corner post.RoofingThe roof consists of 19 mm roof boarding. Roofing with shingles is not possible due to the low roof pitch. We recommend roofing with KSK-M roofing membrane (optionally available).
