SKAN HOLZ Friesland Set H carport

The Friesland carport offers a durable and visually appealing solution for protecting your vehicle. With its compact exterior dimensions of 546 x 555 cm and two elegant entrance arches, the carport blends harmoniously into different property situations. The structure of impregnated softwood offers reliable protection against fungal and insect infestation and can be assembled immediately after delivery. The combination of high-quality timber construction and steel trapezoidal sheet roofing makes this carport an attractive and durable roof for outdoor use.

  • Exterior dimensions 546 x 555 cm: ideal for one or two cars or as a covered parking area
  • Structure: Solid, impregnated spruce wood (not kiln dried) with strong 11.5 x 11.5 cm posts
  • Roof covering: Galvanised steel trapezoidal sheet, anthracite polyester-coated (top side) and light grey (underside) - weather-resistant, hail and snow-proof
  • Post anchoring: Including 60 cm H-post anchor made of galvanised flat steel for setting in concrete in point foundations to be constructed on site.
  • Roof finish: Profiled wood trim with aluminium end edge for a clean, durable finish

Treatment and care instructions:

  • The wood is protected by the water-based impregnation, but has an increased residual moisture content. Minor drying cracks or resin leakage are natural characteristics and do not reduce the structural strength.
  • Before further surface treatment, please wait 2-3 months in the sun until the excess impregnation has dried. Then sand the surface lightly, clean and treat twice with a high-quality wood preservative stain.
  • When selecting the stain, make sure it has good UV protection and follow the manufacturer's processing guidelines. Recommended maintenance intervals are approx. 4-5 years, but at the latest before visible damage occurs.

Technical and planning-relevant information:

  • Stability: Connecting the posts with the supplied H-anchors creates a stable and permanent anchoring in the concrete point foundation.
  • Foundation: The size and design of the point foundations can be found in the assembly instructions. On request, you can receive the appropriate foundation plan together with the anchors - please specify when ordering.
  • Weather resistance: The polyester coating of the steel sheet minimises thermal expansion and protects against corrosion, so that the roof covering retains its shape even under extreme temperature changes.

The Friesland carport impresses with its well thought-out details, high-quality materials and easy assembly. It is ideal for customers who are looking for a durable, visually appealing and functional roof for their outdoor area.

Construction

The construction is made of impregnated softwood. Spruce and pine wood, which is not technically-dried, acquires its greenish color from metal salts released by the impregnating agent. They protect wood against fungus and insect infestations, but do not contain UV protection. Impregnation gives wood higher residual moisture. Subsequent drying can lead to release of resin, twisting and formation of drying cracks, which pose no static disadvantage and rather reflect the natural materials used.

Colour treatment

The wooden parts in this kit have been treated at the factory with a water-based preservative. This means the kit can be assembled straight away upon delivery. To ensure the long-term preservation of the wooden surface, it is recommended that the wood be treated further after a sufficient drying and weathering period of approximately 2 to 3 sunny months.

Before painting, the surface should be lightly sanded and cleaned. It is then recommended to apply two coats of a wood preservative suitable for outdoor use. Products with UV protection can help to reduce the visual ageing of the wood caused by weathering. Please follow the application instructions provided by the respective manufacturer.

Regular maintenance and timely re-treatment help to keep the surface in good condition over the long term. The required maintenance intervals depend on the location, exposure to the elements and the coating system used.

Steel roofing

The roof is fitted with galvanised trapezoidal steel sheeting. The double-sided polyester coating – anthracite on the top and light grey on the underside – combines a modern appearance with additional protection against the elements.

Thanks to the material’s typically low thermal expansion, dimensional changes due to temperature fluctuations are minimal. The robust design of the trapezoidal sheet offers high load-bearing capacity and is designed for long-term outdoor use as well as to withstand the stresses of snow and hail.

Bracing

The building kit includes 60 cm-long H-post anchors of galvanized flat steel for embedding in concrete in the site-built deep foundation (for size and lay-out see assembly instructions). They firmly connect the posts to the subsurface to ensure high stability.
