- Solid structure: supporting structure and posts made of kiln-dried Douglas fir for high stability and a long service life.
- Natural look: Surface untreated in colour - develops a protective grey-silver patina over time.
- Weather and pest resistant: Douglas fir heartwood contains natural resins and oils that protect against fungal and insect infestation.
- High-quality roofing: 16 mm polycarbonate multiwall sheets in clear with UV-reflective protective layer for long-lasting light transmission and weather resistance.
- Detailed finish: Chamfered posts (12 x 12 cm), decorated rafter and purlin ends and curved diagonal braces for an attractive appearance.
- Simple fastening: Screw-on supports made of galvanised steel including dowels for secure anchoring to on-site foundations.
- Scope of delivery: Complete kit package without wall fastening material; aluminium profiles with EPDM lip seals for secure mounting of the multi-skin sheets are included.
Note on care and treatment: The wooden parts are untreated in colour. To preserve the natural wood texture, a full-surface protective coating is recommended before installation (wood protection primer, then intermediate and top coat with high-quality glaze). Without additional chemical wood protection, regular cleaning is sufficient; the natural patina provides protection. Plan maintenance intervals of approx. 4-5 years for treated surfaces.
The Rimini terrace roof is a durable and visually appealing solution for enhancing your outdoor area - ideal for terraces, seating areas or as a weather-protected transitional area.
Construction
The construction is made of Douglas fir. The reddish heart wood of the Douglas fir contains resin and oils that are resistant against fungus and insect infestations. We use technically-dried Douglas fir which, depending on length, is partly weatherproofed by finger jointing. This type of wood features high surface hardness. Fissures, branches and twists reflect the natural materials used.
If Douglas fir is not treated with varnish, a glossy grey-silver patina forms over time. It protects the built structure from environmental challenges, and you from time-consuming wood maintenance.
Color treatment
The wooden parts of this building kit are not color treated. If building kits of Douglas fir are assembled without chemical wood protection, no further treatment than regular cleaning of the patina with water is required.
If the natural texture of the wood is to be maintained, regular application of a protective coating is recommended. All-round coating should be applied prior to assembly. First apply wood primer. Then apply an intermediate and a finishing coat of premium wood varnish or paint to protect against color change and damage. Calculate service intervals of about 4-5 years, prior to the appearance of visible damage. Follow the processing guidelines of the varnish manufacturer.
Roofing
Roofing consists of stable, 16 mm-thick polycarbonate twin-wall sheet. The top face is provided with a UV-reflecting layer. It is attached with a high-quality aluminium profile with EPDM lip-seals.
Bracing
The building kit contains mounting brackets of galvanized flat steel including anchor bolts for attachment to the site-built foundation. They ensure secure connection to the subsurface.
