Construction
The construction is made of solid Nordic fir. We use technically-dried, solid spruce wood, scanned for flaws, sorted and weatherproofed by finger-joint bonding according to length. Small fissures, branches and slight twists reflect the character of the materials used.
Colour treatment
The colour-treated parts of the kit have been treated with paint. This protects the wood from blue stain and damage caused by UV light, reduces swelling and shrinkage, whilst still allowing the wood grain to show through. The log planks and corner strips are spray-coated twice on one side at the factory. The doors and windows are coated once on one side, whilst the roof fascia boards are coated twice on all sides. The inner surfaces of the log planks, doors and windows are untreated. The cut edges of the planks, the floor, the roof boarding and the purlins are also untreated. Each kit comes with a supply of paint or wood stain for repairs; use this to treat any damage or cut and screw joints required for assembly at least twice. All untreated parts of the kit fitted to the exterior (e.g. the undersides of the roof projecting outwards, roof purlins, the underside of the floor and the inside surfaces of the windows and doors) are unprotected and must be treated on site with a primer and two coats of glaze or paint. If you wish to give the surface an additional finish, lightly sand the visible surfaces after assembly and coat them with a high-quality wood stain. Please use our optional range of paints and wood stains for this purpose. Printed colour samples are not binding; colour variations may occur.
Walls
All 28 mm-thick wall logs have a single groove and tongue milling. The logs are inserted into one another and slotted and screwed into the corner post.
Roofing
The roof is supplied with 19 mm-thick roof boarding with tongue and groove for roofing with shingles. (roof shingles are optionally available). A layer of roofing felt is included.
Flooring
The floor consists of untreated 19 mm floorboards with tongue and groove, including impregnated ground supports.
