SKAN HOLZ Friesland carport
The Friesland 546 x 555 cm carport is a robust and durable solution for protecting vehicles, garden tools or as a covered storage area. The structure of impregnated softwood offers reliable protection against fungal and insect infestation and can be assembled immediately after delivery. The combination of high-quality timber construction and steel trapezoidal sheet roofing makes this carport an attractive and durable roof for outdoor use.
- Exterior dimensions 546 x 555 cm: ideal for one or two cars or as a covered parking area
- Structure: Solid, impregnated spruce wood (not kiln dried) with strong 11.5 x 11.5 cm posts
- Roof covering: Galvanised steel trapezoidal sheet, anthracite polyester-coated (top side) and light grey (underside) - weather-resistant, hail and snow-proof
- Post anchoring: Including 60 cm H-post anchor made of galvanised flat steel for setting in concrete in point foundations to be constructed on site.
- Roof finish: Profiled wood trim with aluminium end edge for a clean, durable finish
Treatment and care instructions:
- The wood is protected by the water-based impregnation, but has an increased residual moisture content. Minor drying cracks or resin leakage are natural characteristics and do not reduce the structural strength.
- Before further surface treatment, please wait 2-3 months in the sun until the excess impregnation has dried. Then sand the surface lightly, clean and treat twice with a high-quality wood preservative stain.
- When selecting the stain, make sure it has good UV protection and follow the manufacturer's processing guidelines. Recommended maintenance intervals are approx. 4-5 years, but at the latest before visible damage occurs.
Technical and planning-relevant information:
- Stability: Connecting the posts with the supplied H-anchors creates a stable and permanent anchoring in the concrete point foundation.
- Foundation: The size and design of the point foundations can be found in the assembly instructions. On request, you can receive the appropriate foundation plan together with the anchors - please specify when ordering.
- Weather resistance: The polyester coating of the steel sheet minimises thermal expansion and protects against corrosion, so that the roof covering retains its shape even under extreme temperature changes.
The Friesland carport impresses with its well thought-out details, high-quality materials and easy assembly. It is ideal for customers looking for a durable, visually appealing and functional roof for their outdoor area.
Construction
The construction is made of impregnated softwood. Spruce and pine wood, which is not technically-dried, acquires its greenish color from metal salts released by the impregnating agent. They protect wood against fungus and insect infestations, but do not contain UV protection. Impregnation gives wood higher residual moisture. Subsequent drying can lead to release of resin, twisting and formation of drying cracks, which pose no static disadvantage and rather reflect the natural materials used.
Color treatment
Water-based impregnation protects the wooden components of this building kit from fungus and insect infestations. The building kit can be assembled immediately upon delivery. The wooden surface should be further treated no sooner than 2-3 sunny months later, after the excess impregnation has dried. Lightly sand and clean the surface prior to coating. Apply two coats of premium wood varnish to the surface. Look for good UV protection of the products and follow the guidelines of the varnish manufacturer. Calculate service intervals of about 4-5 years, prior to the appearance of visible damage. Follow the processing guidelines of the varnish manufacturer.
Steel roof cladding
The roof covering is made of galvanised trapezoidal steel sheet. The polyester coating on both sides, the upper side in elegant anthracite and the underside in light grey, not only ensures a modern appearance, but also effectively protects the material from the effects of the weather.
Thanks to its low thermal expansion, the trapezoidal steel sheet is particularly stable and minimises the risk of deformation, even in the event of extreme temperature fluctuations. The robust design guarantees very high resistance to hail and snow.
Bracing
The building kit includes 60 cm-long H-post anchors of galvanized flat steel for embedding in concrete in the site-built deep foundation (for size and lay-out see assembly instructions). They firmly connect the posts to the subsurface to ensure high stability.
