Spruce and pine wood, which is not technically-dried, acquires its greenish color from metal salts released by the impregnating agent. They protect wood against fungus and insect infestations, but do not contain UV protection. Impregnation gives wood higher residual moisture. Subsequent drying can lead to release of resin, twisting and formation of drying cracks, which pose no static disadvantage and rather reflect the natural materials used.Colour treatmentThe colour-treated components are coated with a layer of paint at the factory. The coating allows the natural wood grain to remain visible whilst ensuring a uniform surface finish. The components are coated on all sides twice at the factory, after which any excess material is brushed off.Thanks to this factory pre-treatment, the components can be assembled immediately upon delivery. A primer coat prior to assembly is not required. Each kit also includes a quantity of wood stain or paint for touching up cut edges, screw holes or any damage caused during assembly. These areas should be treated in accordance with the installation instructions.For a personalised finish, the visible wooden surfaces can be lightly sanded after assembly and treated with a suitable wood stain or paint.
